The Caucasus Mountains of Georgia proved quite a challenge where the roads, or should I say tracks, were not in the best of conditions.  In fact one was lucky if they existed at all.  I spent a whole hour in low first gear and didn't meet another vehicle for two days. BTW Russians drive like suicidal maniacs.
